"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
–Margaret Mead

WHY BE INVOLVED?

Many of the world's most successful charities and organizations were started and supported by people just like yourself. One look at the list below and you'll find the answer to the question: "What can one person do?"

Autism Speaks
The magnitude of this organization would lead one to believe they have been around for decades. Unbelievably, Autism Speaks marked only its 4th anniversary in February of 2009. Co-founders Suzanne and Bob Wright have dedicated their lives to autism awareness to incredible success. Empowered by the love of their grandson, Christian, who was diagnosed with autism, they created what is now the nation's leading nonprofit organization devoted to autism awareness.

Heifer International
"Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime." This Chinese proverb can stand as the premise of this successful organization. Farmer Dan West was passing out milk to starving children when he became inspired to treat the cause and not just the symptom. It wasn't just a cup of milk they needed, it was the whole cow. Since 1944, Heifer has been providing the hungry with livestock and training to maintain the animals that provide them with much-needed nutrition.

Susan G. Komen For The Cure(R)
Diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 33, Susan Komen left a wish to her sister, Nancy: To do something, anything, to better the conditions of people battling cancer. From the appearance of the waiting rooms to the treatments given, Susan's wish is being fulfilled by the organization that bears her name.

Tom's Shoes
Call it capitalism with a conscience. For every pair of shoes sold, another pair is donated to a child in need.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation
What began as a fundraising effort to pay for a chemotherapy treatment not covered by insurance, has turned into a powerhouse organization taking on an under-researched subtype of breast cancer. The TNBC Foundation's motivated founders are comprised of a group of friends determined to not let their dear friend, Nancy Block-Zenna's struggle with cancer be in vain. To date, they've caught the attention of numerous media, celebrity support, and most recently have partnered with Susan G. Komen For The Cure(R) to further their efforts to fight this rare form of breast cancer. The Jessica A. Fox Foundation donates all of our profits from our annual Jessica Fox Day of Fun event to the TNBC Foundation to help further research. Please read their story at TNBCFoundation.org
